Terms & licensing
Licenses for the material you reuse, and checks to make before using a result.
Use and limits
GlyphIndex provides a character reference and text tools that run in your browser. Check the result in the app where you plan to use it: fonts, accepted input, and interpretation can differ from one destination to another.
The tools have size limits and require browser features described in their guides. They do not provide account storage, remote backups, or recovery of deleted local data. Keep your own copy of text you need to retain.
Separate licenses
| Material | License or terms | Reuse note |
|---|---|---|
| Original project code | MIT | Retain the supplied copyright and permission notice. |
| Original GlyphIndex prose and worked examples | Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International | Credit GlyphIndex, link to the license, and identify changes when you adapt the material. |
| Unicode Character Database files and derived data | Unicode License V3 | Retain the applicable Unicode copyright and permission notice. |
| Dependencies and other third-party material | Their own supplied licenses | Consult the accompanying notices; one project license does not replace them. |
The links below lead to the governing license texts or official license information. This summary does not replace them. A code or content license does not imply endorsement by a standards organization or grant another party’s trademark rights.
Your text and output
You choose what text to enter and how to use the result. Converting it does not change its ownership or grant rights missing from the original. GlyphIndex does not claim ownership because you inspect, normalize, compose, or export your text.
Keep ordinary text for passwords, code identifiers, and essential labels that people need to type or recognize. A decorative character with a familiar shape may behave differently in search or another system.
