Code Point Converter

Convert between characters and Unicode values such as U+2665. Choose the direction, then check the result.

Your text is processed on your device. This tool has no third-party scripts, and GlyphIndex never reads your clipboard automatically.

10 / 10,000 UTF-16 units Some characters count as two units.

JSON includes your input and the result. Keep the file private if the text is private.

CSV contains all inspection records. If the output exceeds 10,000 UTF-16 units, those records describe the input. Formula-leading cells start with an apostrophe; JSON keeps the exact text.

Try an example

Text to U+ notation

Use Text → U+ code points. The output is notation; it is not the heart character itself.

Input text
♥

Result
U+2665

Decimal values to text

Use Code points → text. Unprefixed numbers are decimal, so 65 becomes A and 9829 becomes ♥.

Input text
65 32 9829

Result
A ♥

A complete joined sequence

Use Code points → text. All three scalars are retained, including the joiner.

Input text
U+1F469 U+200D U+1F4BB

Result
👩‍💻

Reject an out-of-range value

The largest possible Unicode scalar is U+10FFFF. Correct the value before retrying.

Input text
U+110000

Result
Invalid Unicode scalar; no converted text.

Reject a surrogate value

A surrogate is a UTF-16 code unit, not a standalone Unicode scalar.

Input text
U+D800

Result
Invalid Unicode scalar; no converted text.

Text to decimal notation

Use Text → decimal code points. Each value is separated by an ordinary space.

Input text
A♥

Result
65 9829

Choose a conversion direction

Choose Text → U+ code points for hexadecimal notation, Text → decimal code points for decimal numbers, or Code points → text to turn values into characters.

Accepted token in Code points → textInterpretation
U+0041Hexadecimal Unicode notation: A.
0x41Hexadecimal numeric notation: A.
65Decimal notation: A.
U+0041, U+2665Two tokens separated by a comma: A♥.

Separate numeric tokens with spaces, commas, or semicolons. Bare numbers are decimal; use U+ or 0x for hexadecimal. For an HTML reference such as A, use HTML Entity Converter.

Keep complete sequences

Keep every value in a multi-character sequence. The heart ❤️ contains U+2764 and U+FE0F; the heart suit ♥ is U+2665. Removing a selector or joiner changes the string, even if it looks similar.

Understand invalid values

Out-of-range values, surrogate values, malformed tokens, and unpaired surrogates in text are rejected without a partial conversion. Unassigned and private-use scalar values can be converted, but may have no standard name or visible glyph.

The input limit is 10,000 UTF-16 units. If you need the characters themselves, choose Code points → text before copying; copying U+ notation gives you its letters and digits.
